I'm not sure what the overall cost is to train these models, Elevenlabs can do it pretty well and pretty cheaply but there may be some added overhead for this expressiveness we saw with the 4o demo, possibly requiring more recordings from the actor or a longer training period that other methods. Still, hiring an actor for 10 hours is a drop in the bucket for OAI so there should be at least a dozen options. I'm still not clear what the payment structure is for their actors, they say they're getting paid above the standard rate but is that just for recording? Presumably these voices will be generating tens of thousands of hours of these actors voices for every hour in realtime so these actors are going to become very rich very quickly if they're getting paid as if their lines were being recorded in the studio.
