One of the greatest crimes of America in the 21st century is the utter disregard for the ptsd and plight of the soldiers in the middle east. You can’t tell me they didn’t suffer psychologically and spiritually just as bad as the vietnam vets, except the military and government learned from the vietnam war to prevent journalists from being at the front lines and broadcasting it on the news.
“Thank you for your service” became the nation’s bullshit rallying cry. The media joined forces with the military. I gave up trying to tell people that the most patriotic thing you can do is fight back against the propaganda by refusing to buy into it.
“What, you have something against veterans?”, I would hear when I said this. No, in fact I prefer healthy living veterans over physically and psychologically damaged dead ones.
The 30 to 50 something combat veteran of the middle east battles is a large part of a lost generation that became addicted to opioids, homeless, and disillusioned enough to join the cult of a person who has nothing but contempt for them and their service.
