I live in a part of the USA that has become a human trafficking hot spot. There is a person who has lived in my apartment complex for months now and I’ve been able to get a sneak peek into his apartment a couple of times and there is ZERO furniture in the living room (not sure about the bedrooms). Whenever I drive by, he has a different car parked in front of his place - 4Runner, Grand Cherokee, Raptor truck, and fancy race cars like a Camaro.

Different women come and go and they usually bring a suitcase or laundry basket of clothes when they come by. And then there are days at a time when no one is home but the front patio light is left on. If he is outside on the patio, whenever I get home he goes inside immediately, especially if a woman is with him.

I’ve seen a child a couple of times but I’m not sure the relation. I don’t live in the safest part of my city and the complex I’m at is definitely lower income, but based on the different vehicles this guy is driving every week, I don’t see how he can be any kind of low income.

All of the women that do come by are Hispanic and don’t seem to speak much English. I’ve seen them a couple times and smiled and tried to say hi.

My dad was military for 21 years and my stepmom is a nurse from Kentucky who has dealt with patients who’ve been trafficked and they are also uncomfortable and think something suspicious could be going on.

I signed my lease sight unseen but was told by a realtor who was helping me find a place while I lived four states away that this wasn’t a bad part of town. I was definitely misguided but I’m waiting for my lease to be up before moving. I have my concealed carry license and security cameras all over the place until I can find a new lease. The guy who lived in my unit before me was recently in jail or something because I accidentally opened a letter that was mailed to my house from his parole officer praising his good behavior while on house arrest. Twice now, I’ve had police and a private investigator leave their business card at my door requesting a call back about unrelated topics.

The whole situation is uncomfortable and concerning, but I’m not sure if I’ve listened to too many true crime podcasts and I’m being paranoid or if this is truly cause of concern and I should report it to authorities.

I have been scared to share or report this because I know how the government drags their feet and I’m afraid I’ll be caught in the middle if something wrong is happening so I may delete this post after I get some feedback about how to proceed.
