Dozens of spot Bitcoin ETFs have already existed in many nations around the world for almost 4 years now, yet none of that has happened.

The US is a much larger market of course, but that alone isn't a reason for expecting market manipulation suddenly. If anything, that might make it harder to pull off now.

There are a LOT of people who will never own a Bitcoin wallet or set up an exchange account, yet are interested enough to buy an ETF inside their existing investment portfolio that is held within their familiar brokerage institution that they've been using for like 20+ years.

And they love saving money on capital gains taxes. Or even just getting the broker tax reports to simplify doing their taxes if needed.

And they fear self-custody: screwing something up themselves, or getting scammed resulting in losing access. Or even their beneficiaries not being able to access their inheritance upon death (or just the thought of them stressing about it).

Plus institutional investments add a whole new layer, with companies like Fidelity adding up to 2-3% Bitcoin ETFs into their own generic market-index all-in-one investment ETFs. This makes their huge customer base into Bitcoin owners whether they've even heard of it or not. This effect might accelerate things significantly.
