To be clear, even before this they were pretty quick. Once they put up telegraph lines it was just a matter of marking the ledges, and every once in a while moving physical gold around to balance out the accounts. Not sure how often that happened, but I'm guessing every few months or so, and it didn't effect the speed at which the ledgers could be updated.
