ELI5: South Sudan is worlds newest country, before it became independent there were ethnic clashes in the region, once the country was formed one of these major ethnic groups became the majority of the new government, the other ethnic group wasn't as fortunate in gaining as much power (but these were people that had been fighting the muslim north for independence for years.) When they could not rebel against a common enemy anymore. they are now rebelling against themselves.
