This is like saying a christian is simply someone who believes in Jesus.
The writings of Marx are what Marxism is. People co opting it in their own ideological twisting is irrelevant. In fact it rather proves the inherent religiousity of it (identitarianism, need to feel part of something).
>Also the DSA is highly critical of Russia I have no idea what you're talking about.
I don't pay attention to what is said. I pay attention to what is not said. Specifically, when people spout pro-Palestine crap - they do not say quite a bit. For example, when they claim there is apartheid, they don't say that their definition of apartheid is a neophyte one. That if actually fairly applied would also apply to any prolonged conflict area between two states, such as that between the two Koreas, or currently even that between Russia and Ukraine. But you see, those things stated, would expose the BS of their position.
>Unless you think anyone critical of Israel
Why import the black/white fallacy. "Anyone" "every" "never." It's critical how that matters. I've been pro Ukraine for a long time, so I've watched this all unfold for over 10 years now. I might have more understanding of history than you, in fact. I would be careful, again, in being so openly transparent with your need to lead the conversation in a certain way, with your own reductive attribution biases.
>All this to say only a select few of these beliefs match up to what you characterize as all of Marxism.
No true scotsman fallacy.
>Anyways give me your definition of Marxism
Marxism is the words of marx. No more, no less. Just like different sects of Islam all have a certain flavor- you cannot run away from the inherent core. I understand this makes you uncomfortable to face exactly what it is. That's why you are squirming so much with it.
