It was, in the words of Benjamin Ferencz, the last surviving Nuremberg prosecutor, a crime against humanity, citing Article 7, paragraph 1, section k of the Rome Statute: *“Other inhumane acts of a similar character intentionally causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or to mental or physical health.”*

Now as we say, elections have consequences. Now with Trump on his way out, the victims of the family separation policy will finally be compensated. Those who are still separated will be found.

And most importantly, those who took part in the policy. From those who gave the orders to those who followed them, will finally be held accountable.
