Not a great sign; like, don’t get me wrong, being a foreign(or local for a foreign agency) reporter in Palestine/Israel wasn’t great before but now it almost feels like open season.

Not that any part of this conflict has been good in any way, but news coverage beyond what Hamas or IDF mouthpieces say is kinda crucial.

The thing is, news is always a liability for any military; balancing that with the public’s need to know is a balancing act. A military has to manage this carefully.

The IDF was never really great at this, and now it’s worse.

Open Source intelligence is now our best guess, but local reporting is always going to be emotional and biased(for good reason; no debate here!). Filtering that and cross-referencing it to get a good idea of the actual situation without State-sponsored sources sanitizing their sides actions first is crucial to getting an idea of what the non-combatants need right now.
