Oh yea, those sudden drops are so scary. I had a similar experience, we hit clear air turbulence shortly after initial and fell just over 100ft. I was super fortunate that we were on the 757 that has a railing attached to the aft galley counter as l was standing up when we dropped. I was holding onto the railing and pretty much my lower body pivoted up and hit the ceiling. I was so freaked out bc it came out of nowhere and I’m pretty sure I screamed. It was only a couple seconds long but those seconds sure feel so much longer when you’re staring at the ground pretty much sitting on the ceiling and you damn well ain’t supposed to be there!
Thankfully I wasn’t injured when we leveled out and I hit the ground, somehow no one sustained any injuries-other than turbulence related mental trauma lmao. Which was damn lucky too, bc all the other flight attendants were also standing. In 9yrs that’s the worst turbulence experience I’ve ever had and here’s hoping that incident holds that title for the rest of my career!!!!
