To me the craziest part is you want to buy internationally, you said the "Country" meaning not your own and thats where it gets wild. I had similar thoughts while traveling aboard but ulitmately I didnt want to go to the same place over and over again and would rather explore new places OR buy something I can utilize alot more (say a summer home I could drive 3-5 hours and spend the weekend at or a few weeks at a time).

You aren't considering this an investment although it could be resold, if it isnt an "investment" is it at least near a tourist attraction or have some features that make it valuable and easily resold (waterfront, amazing view, waterfall, lake/pond etc) or is it just acerage in the middle of nowhere? Could you retire in this cabin without having to rebuild or expand?

I had a friend fresh out of college purchase a condo in a mountain town cause they loved skiing/boarding and we all thought they were crazy however the apperciation on it has been more then 15x and they just sold, so it can be done but I wouldnt advise.
