I've been using a wallet on bitcoin core for a while. I recently sent it some funds, I saw the transaction on the mempool. However this time it didn't show up on my wallet on bitcoin core.

I restarted bitcoin core a few times and it kept showing the same balance and old transactions. Then I ran rescanblockchain on the console and it's taking forever.

Anyway it can really screw things up if I don't know when it's gonna do this, I'd like to know if there's a way to avoid it. The rescan seems like it will take like 5 hours and until then I can't use the funds I sent me from Bitcoin Core.

I don't even know why this happens, kinda the point is to see your transactions live.

If you know something about this behavior and steps one can take please let me know. Thanks.

Anticipated replies to invalidating comments: The address is right and it was freshly made. I'm not asking anything about Bitcoin Cash, the post is about Bitcoin Core and BTC.
