The only reason you get institutional acceptance is because the rich, powerful, and smart people are using bitcoin to move money out of countries and not have it tied to a country. The only way the IRS and the likes will be able to track bitcoin sales is to actually get in the game and create transactions so they are in the ledgers. Other then that there is no way to track bitcoin buys and sales if they are in different currencies.
