They wrote the testimonial to David Malan perhaps because they started their CS journey with cs50, perhaps because he was an easily recognizable individual to thank as opposed to a faceless website course, perhaps as just one of many testimonials they wrote in addition to ones to other courses, etc. There are many plausible reasons.

It's an absolute insane leap of logic to assume, "This person said they did cs50 and says they have a job in the field now. This must mean that cs50 is their *only* CS education and taught them every single thing they know." Especially if you understand what the actual cs50 course covers, which you should if you say you've done both it and a university CS degree. Again, cs50 is literally **a few weeks worth of a single 101 introductory course** in a proper CS program. If you think that's all you need to be completely qualified to get a job, I hope your company never puts you in charge of hiring anyone.
