The longest it takes the S&P to fully recover is 5 years... But we haven't seen a crash that bad since 2007.
But you can be smart and not baghold through the entire crash. Sell once the market shows signs of a sustained downturn. And buy back once we see a bounce. They generally last a month or two.
If you do this, you will be profitable while bagholders may take years to recover. However, this can be kinda complicated if this is ur 401k and you have to take a 10% penalty to pull ur money out. However, still is probably worth it.
As a daytrader however, I'm happy to see a crash, because I can load up on crashes and make more money than I could during a bull market. But options aren't for everyone. And this isn't really the sub for that.
