It's cool that you have your cruelty all rationally tidied up with a bow, but you don't get to decide for the rest of us that punishment trumps rehabilitation. As it turns out, studies have shown that punishment for the sake of punishment makes rehabilitation harder.

You don't treat someone like an animal and expect them to come out of prison as a functioning adult - you teach them how to be an adult while treating them like an adult separate from the population.

Mindblowing concept, I'm sure, but it seems to be working for the Nordic countries that have seen recidivism plummet - 20% vs. our 70%.
