The market you speak of is US large cap stocks. It’s “inflated” for sure and for good reason - no reliance on debt, cash horde producing income, huge moats in many cases and seeming non cyclical growth even if marginal in some cases. All the while many other sectors and asset classes have been crushed in the last couple years. The folks the use the “stock market” as a “somewhat volatile but guaranteed 8% return over the long run savings account” are enamored by the prospect because they haven’t lived though a period where us large caps do nothing for years on end. It will happen at some point but waiting around in 100% cash for that to happen is going to be frustrating.
