However, currently taxpayer resources in the form of law enforcement and the courts protect the profits of companies like Disney who in many cases remade stories that were once protected by copyright laws, but entered the public domain when the copyright terms were much more reasonable. Now, since Disney ~~bribed~~ made "legitimate campaign donations" to Congress there are currently laws protecting these remakes for multiple decades (and for music it could be a century or longer).
