I wasn't even thinking of the settlers, so thanks.

I just didn't want Crimea left as a dagger pointed at the stomach of the Ukrainian State,

wanted somewhere to put the hypothetical Ukrainian navy that doesn't actually exist yet,

and I believe that the post 2014 stalemate over water was a failure for the region, so I'm not keen on returning to a status quo where one country gets the territory and the other gets to control the water supply.

If you have Crimea, you should have control over it's water, as such Crimea being Ukrainian is more practical in a situation where Ctimea's agricultural water is already Ukrainian.
