This is probably what he meant by: wish the west would wake up right?

Because we have been giving aid piecemeal to avoid a Ukrainian defeat, but not making them able to actually win. This way we have caused the war to drag on for years, we are keeping it alive. So the west needs to wake up and actually make plans for what they want the outcome of this war to be.

Do we (the west) want a Ukrainian victory? If so, remove any clauses on how and where Ukraine can use their weapons. Increase support with massive increase in armor, planes, artillery, missiles, aa to enable offensive manouvers with air superiority. Send western troops to guard the borders and man AA in the cities would also be good (guard border to belarus that is, not on the border with russia) When Russia is broken, get Ukraine into NATO fast to prevent further wars in the region and call it a day.

If the west, on the other hand, wants to prevent Russian defeat then they should push hard for negotiations to end the war on Russian terms (as in they keep what they have taken) I do not support this at all, i want aid to increase manyfold and for Russia to lose. At the same time, we cant have this war rage on for years and years. The human cost is just to high An end could be Ukraine losing land, and joining NATO with the territory they currently hold, Russia would probably accept this. It would suck, but we would have peace with no chance of war flaring up again. This is not my preffered outcome at all, i want crimea back with Ukraine and Ukraine in NATO with Russia broken and Putin flying out a window due to political infighting. This would send a powerfull message to would be aggressors to not do it. Its not worth the risk (im looking at you China)

Regardless, we in NATO/the west need a plan. And as of now, there does not seem to be one except for "not escalate and have the war dragging on forever"
