Yes it is extremely volatile and I would never claim otherwise. I would never suggest anybody put their life savings into it. However, you see the long term trend is very positive, more positive than any asset in human history. Its use case as a store of value has been proven for over a decade now through many types of markets. Perhaps to somebody over 50 years old this would not be a good store of value since their time horizon for needing the money is much closer than somebody who is 20 years old. Gold would be better for that. For this we can simply quality our statement by saying BTC is a good store of value for somebody with a long time horizon who can ride out the volatility, much like they might ride out the volatility in the S&P500.
