I’m not claiming to be an authority on BTC I just recommended a book I found interesting and might change some people’s minds. At least be willing to step out of your current paradigm and the r/investing anti BTC echo chamber. I knew I would be downvoted immensely but I don’t really care because this place needs some dissenting opinion every once in a while.
As a store of value the transaction cost doesn’t matter all that much because the timelines are so long term and the asset so deflationary that a few percent in transaction fees don’t matter as much. It would matter if it was being used as a currency and people were making transactions constantly at their local grocery store.
Lastly, your point about people just getting “lucky” doesn’t make sense. Bitcoin literally provided its intended utility during this period of inflation. People who understood its true use case didn’t just get “lucky”. They benefited immensely by using BTC for something it is useful for, IE being a deflationary asset when the fed is making the printer hot. Sure, some may have gotten “lucky” if they just piled money into it without knowing what it does, but that doesn’t mean BTC isn’t useful for that purpose.
