You’re downplaying the issue in a huge way!

Satellite internet is not a viable solution for many people, it is twice as much (if not more) than many traditional providers and offers a fraction of the bandwidth, and if you are looking at a legacy provider you have ridiculous caps as well, if you are looking at Starlink you have the $600 equipment cost and installation to overcome as well.

And while you are definitely right the ISPs are a major problem the fact the government is doing nothing to remedy the situation except throw money at it instead of actually auditing the progress being made and questioning why they can’t meet goals, seriously; I’ve seen numerous occasions where an ISP gets a grant to “expand” into an underserved local area and instead of helping local residents they are actually double dipping and getting paid by a developer to run internet to their new cookie cutter neighborhood instead of the people actually living there already.
