I have never heard of any hacker group compromising US infrastructure. Maybe hacking a company's employee records, but never affecting things like power or water or military assets. I get that these are theoretically possible, but it hasnt been demonstrated to my knowledge, and if such an event occurred, especially if it resulted in loss of life, i dont see how the US response would be less than what we did to Iraq after 9/11.

Again, knocking out the power to a presidential speech is nowhere near a threat to national security.

My point is that everyone is constantly ringing alarm bells about hackers, but i have yet to hear about a hacker group doing anything beyond antagonizing political groups or companies by defacing their website or ransoming information. Hackers stile some bitcoin? How is that a problem for 99% of the world that doesn't use digital currency?

Hackers got into a water treatment system and stole some diagnostic data? What are they gonna do? Poison our already toxic water supply?

We are nowhere near a cyberpunk society where you can electrocute someone remotely or steal all the money in their bank account without them getting a phone call and a 10 day hold before having the assets moved.

China flee a fucking air balloon all the way over our country unnoticed for days just a couple years ago? How is that not the biggest fucking worry right now. Anything could have been loaded on that air balloon and we didn't catch it until it was in the fucking heartland.

Not to mention all the undocumented chinese males crossing the border the last year. Our biggest worry should domestic security. Or the fucking lab that was found in california run by a chinese immigrant full of meeical supplies and packages labled covid.

Fixing our physical security should be the highest priority. Cyber security can be solved by just fucking unplugging critical items from the internet.
