This is a BS propaganda article. It's what they'd make if they worked 40 hr weeks, 52 weeks a year. Which they do not.

Also, this is yet another sub that punishes users for being concise, so let me ramble. That's actually starting pay of around $44k a year for a 9 month a year job. Pretty reasonable, especially once you factor in total compensation. States vary on benefits, but many states have better benefits than private sector jobs.

The only reason this seems low is that we're paying no skill, entry level jobs $15-20/hr when then should be $8-10. So, now the next tier wants an adjustment because they're making poverty wages. And if they get an adjustment....no skill entry level workers are making poverty wages.

You can never raise the floor. You can only bring the middle down. But man is reddit full of people slitting their own throats and then crying about the blood.
