i love how 5 figures of debt to get a degree (presumably including grants/scholarships) is normalized now. we're gliding right past that.

i don't think the person you responded to is a serious person. they're completely ignoring the fact that teachers *should* be some of the most valued and educated workers in society and instead are just saying "yeah they should get paid shit if they live in a shit area" as if there isn't a problem attracting skilled workers (e.g. doctors, teachers) to **underserved** communities. The whole point of paying people more in underserved communities is to attract them there!
