I needed one more chart to make me happy with this article. The average pay for new employee per state, and average pay for average employee per state. So we could see a comparison of average employees to teachers.

But the article didn't do that. I wonder why?

Average employees do work longer hours and have less time off than teachers. Maybe they didn't think it was a fair comparison to do a fair comparison?

Lets take TN, where I live. New teachers make $20, average random teacher makes 26.

So what is the average wage in TN? Must be much much higher than that right? NOPE. its 26.94 an hour.

But thats really deceptive. Why, is that, you ask?

Because people aren't averages. Average is a simple math calculation. So its no surprise the article also used averages for teachers, but they didn't give median data, so its what I have to use.

So lets look at median income in TN, or the most common wage you would find:

21.07.

So the average, random teacher you might find in TN makes more than most workers in TN and a new teacher makes just as much, basically, since they also work less hours, and have more time off.

The real problem is school administration is horribly poorly managed and spending is just horrible. If school systems would fix finances and management you would have better schools and better pay for teachers.
