I’m just saying this/ I was a successful guy, I was hired by a PE backed firm and left my great job only to get hosed - I spent unbelievable legal fees to fight them and lost - and you can imagine how much something like that can cost. I thought my life was over so I cut off the girls, sold the house, and sat drinking vodka on the couch for about 8 months over self pity. Eventually even got sent away to rehab . When I got back I realized doing volunteer work etc was just about as rewarding as when I was ‘on top of the world’ . Now, having said that I’m starting to miss the ‘game’ and am not worried if I want to chase the buck again. But I will never let image become my identity again because it can go away in a second and you will be left with nothing because it’s all you lived on . Take it from the old guy, give back to the people that lived like us and find a healthy balance and then you will have true happiness . I promise. I’ve learned more in 6 months about happiness then I learned in 47 years
