I'm interested to know the number of people who are into this idea. It's likely they won't voice their opinion because of societal standards, but I imagine it's a far greater number than those who say it's sad or explicitly shame the idea.

I think android partners/friends/whateverelse are inevitable, along with a revolution for android rights and a divide among the population in acceptance vs disdain for androids. Something akin to the cultural upheavals seen with race and gender equality. Physical humanoid robots and the software AI have already met real milestones on the path to having androids be part of our world. The pace at which fortunes are being thrown into the humanoid robot and AI development sectors is bonkers. Just toss the latest version of GPT-4o you saw in the demos into the most advanced humanoid robot and you've already got something far more advanced than almost anyone thought imaginable 10 years ago, but it'll be here in the next year.

Most people adopt new technologies after they've already been established. Not many people try new things in the first wave. Early adopters are usually looked at as foolish for wasting money on things other people think are nonsense. So, keep your android partner money and keep saving up! The first ones will be the most expensive by far.
