> an impossible standard.

I agree, wanting a fair coin is an impossible standard, that's one of the reasons almost nobody gives a shit about it, cause it's kind of a dumb concept.

> Free and fair market is that anyone can participate

Which they couldn't. Because they had no way to know about it yet, until several % had already been hoarded.

> Giving yourself free coins when other's could not give themselves free coins is not a free and fair market.

Correct. I never said ETH was a 100% fair market. No market ever is in any domain.

> anyone else in the world can

No. They couldn't. Because the vast majority of them had no way to know about it even existing yet.

Just no clue what you're smoking. Skipping everything that had nothing to do with what centralization means, which was all of it. Centralization is a mathematical distribution number. More coins in fewer hands = more centralized. The end. How they got there has nothing to do with anything. They are in a center area? Then, obviously, centralized.

If you found out in an alternate universe that Paris had 99% of France's population, you would already have all the information you need to conclude that France's population is centralized. You would not need to query ANYTHING else about that universe's history. People are in a central location, so they're centralized, the end.

Did they get that way by being born there? Moving there for jobs? Being forced to move there because the countryside was overrun by radioactive lizards? Abducted by aliens and dropped off in Paris? Who cares, all of the above are equally centralized.

More BTC is in fewer hands, so it's more centralized, full stop. Even a hypothetical coin that used to be decentralized but is then 51% attacked and everyone else leaves and one guy rules the ashes --> NOW it is centralized.
