A fine is just the cost of doing business for most companies.

In order to bitchslap businesses into oblivion, the penalty should be two-fold - money payable to the consumers, in significant excess of the money they paid to use the product or service, and on top of that, fines that are not just a set amount but significantly more than the company made during that timeframe.

If a company is found to have been guilty of wrongdoing (say, a company deliberately not competing in an area where they should be as there was an under the table agreement to not do so), the penalty in such a case should be all gross revenue the company made during the timeframe they were guilty of such actions (not just the net profit, but all revenue taken in...plus not just that area, but all revenue taken in by the entire business)...and on top of that, a treble refund. All people who paid for that service during the timeframe should be paid back three times all money they paid in, including taxes and fees that the company did not get to keep itself. 3x the total bill.

For a situation like this, it should be 3x the cost of all Car Things ever purchased payable to the consumers, plus 3x the cost of all Spotify Premium subscriptions any of those subscribers ever held since day 1 of the Car Thing's release (whether or not the customer had the Car Thing at the time of their Spotify Premium subscription.)

This is the level of "fuck off and die" we need to be hitting businesses with.
