> You don't earn btc by buying btc
Mining is an exact, 1:1 functionally speaking analogue for staking. The dance has different steps to it, the window dressing is a different color, but the end result is the same. To get accelerating returns:
* 1) You invest money/assets in the crypto * In BTC, you do that by buying mining machines * In ETH, you do that by buying and staking coins
* 2) You get a return more than you invested from step 1. * In BTC, you get blocks for mining, exactly (statistically) proportional to how much you invested * In ETH, you get your stake reward, exactly proportional to how much you invested
* 3) You re-invest that in more of the generating asset, lather rinse repeat * In BTC, you buy MORE mining machines with those block rewards * In ETH, you buy and then stake MORE tokens, with those stake rewards
In both cases, the rich get richer, exactly proportional to their investment. It is functionally identical.
> Ethereum however, you literally can just "stake" it and earn
In Bitcoin, you "literally can just buy miners and earn", the exact analogue.
> Hence why people are even having this dicussion about eth etf being a dividend paying etf, and nobody mentioning that about btc at all.
People are dumb, what do you want from me? And argument ad populum is a fallacy.
