If pre-covid a car was cheaper it’s not because dealers were not being greedy before, it is because selling car at a higher price back then would have make the dealership less money, or at least the dealer thought this

I agree that inflation has many aspect, and monetary inflation is just a component, you can also have supply inflation, or alternative types of demand inflation
