"text": "What stops putting the current top LLMs in a very long loop of chain reasoning to speed up the development of whatever technology? I'm wondering what happens if you give it some kind of long-term mission and some access to external software tools, put it into some kind of loop where it constantly prompts itself to bounce ideas and experiment with different angles and through the external tools, whatever they might be.\n\nI understand current AIs don't have enough of that {something} for it to be that AGI everyone dreams about but today I was chatting with 4o and some examples it gave me about it's current ability to somewhat reason and conclude things logically made me think can't it already be used to create stuff that doesn't currently exist? It has displayed enough ability to make logical connections that are outside of it's learnt data scope.\n\nEveryone argues if GPT is sentient or \"thinking\" but can it just be something else that we don't have any definition to yet? Since the current state of it isn't exactly analogous to neither humans or any other animals maybe it's just something else we aren't used to conceptualize about. Like how if we'd met an intelligent alien it'd probably be \"thinking\" completely different way to us too.\n\nIt's almost just basically like a very good pattern recognition machine sure, but what if our universe IS consistent of just a bunch of patterns on a meta level that many of which we just can't grasp and compute ourselves lol.
