If you want to factor all that in, then consider that teachers are salary, whereas, most forklift drivers are hourly. Wouldn't this mean that teachers work more for even less when compared to an hourly forklift driver who might work overtime, but will receive time and a half for every hour of work past 40 hours/week? I know teachers work doesn't stop at 40 hours/week, plus the need to buy students material paid for out of their own pocket. Put another way, if teachers were paid hourly, wouldn't it skew their pay rate even lower considering how many hours of work they actually put in? Genuinely wondering, because it sure seems like a raw deal to me.
