Everything i've read about windfalls recommends not spending a dime for at least 6 months until the dust and emotional turmoil has settled so I have at the very least told everyone to put the money into either a money market fund or even a HYSA until we can figure out what we are doing. This will at least let us earn a little money while still having access to it if needed. In terms of brokerages i've been considering Vanguard. Thank you for your reply!
