In my time following the AI scene, what I've learned is the majority of people on the outside either intentionally or unknowingly do not differentiate between ChatGPT and AI.

If one software incorporates AI, everything else associated with AI in general is at fault.

I've seen a similar thing here with the Google Oversights. Friends on a discord got some bad results and all of them go into the mindset that AI is one large entity that needs to be shut down.

See: Amateur artist scene on the internet. Some bad actor using LoRAs is enough for them to start calling a ban on anything with the word AI in it, even text-to-text LLM models that don't have anything to do with generative tech.
