First I want to say this, because I know you will not read the whole thing, then I will answer yourr question.

Many in my community do not have the fortunate privilege to survive another four years of Trump. Women, migrants, minorities, etc., I hope you get the idea.

*Answer me this,* can you look those people in the eyes in your own community, after you selfishly didn't consider their situation, because of a misguided perception that a Trump and Biden administration would be the same?

Now to answer your question:

I don't need to read an article about the 2023 heat wave, I lived it. That said, prolonged heat will be my community's biggest threat in the next century. I'm not going to lie, 2023 was an existential crisis for many of us here. In my 37 years, I had never experience a heat wave lasting that long. It wasn't the temperatures, it was the duration. Our existing heat infrastructure was unprepared, and we lost many in our community because of it. However we are making efforts to strengthen our mitigation infrastructure, just like any community hit with a natural disaster.

Side note, this is a warning to anyone not in a high temperature area. This heat is coming for you too. In Arizona, we know how to handle high temperatures, we have existing, albeit strained infrastructure to handle it. Our homes and public places have AC, required by law. Chicago, Portland, London, and other northern communities are in danger, and their residents need to lobby their leaders to prepare for it.

Continuing, you ask me if my family, friends, and children can live in Arizona in 10 years if Biden wins, like Trump winning will reduce greenhouse gases and prevent prolonged heat waves in 2034? Yaaawn. Get better material.

Concerning heat, I'm not worried about the next 10 years. I'm worried about the next 100, or 1000. The Sonoran Desert is a beautiful ecological paradise. I'm voting to lay a foundation today, so that my community and environment can appreciate that some of us, in spite of others, made an effort.

We will likely lose a lot, but I'm not about to lose it all.
