Agreed. What would have made it useful is the ability to work over wifi and with an audio output. I would buy that in a heartbeat for my older vehicle with a head unit that cannot be replaced that also uses a fiber optic network to transport audio to the amp located god knows where in the car, but I have a 3.5mm aux input so it would work great with that. I'd want to use Waze too, though, so a standalone carplay screen is what I really need.
