>I said it before already, but Biden and Blinken stepping out to defend Bibi against the ICC charges is one of the most insane unforced errors I’ve witnessed in a long while.

It undermines the very order that the US touts as it tries to stem Russia and China's growing influence in the developing world.

The US was actively celebrating the ICC's actions against Putin. They have the same jurisdiction there as they do over Israel. But because it was against a geopolitical rival, that was fine.

The problem is hypocrisy like this adds to the undermining of legitimacy of the ICC. A huge chunk of African countries have long pointed out that it seems the ICC only exists to police black people. When it comes to taking against European atrocities, or atrocities perpetuated by the great powers, it gets stymied. So they're asking themselves what benefits they get by having signed up to various international treaties that bind them, but not the great powers.

And then, when China comes calling, and America complains about Human Rights records, they look at behavior like this and ask why they should care about American complaints. American hypocrisy means other countries care less about Chinese and Russian hypocrisy. People want to know why anti-American sentiment is so popular globally? Why countries from in South America to South Asia and from Africa to Central Asia are antipathic to the US? Why the rest of the world collectively shrugged while Russia invaded Ukraine and the US was begging for a broader coalition of support against the Russians?

This is why. I do think Biden needs to win. And that Biden is a far better alternative to Trump and the Dems as a rule are better for America and the world than Republicans who appear to have completely lost their minds. But that doesn't change the fact that Israel's stranglehold over US politics through lobbies such as AIPAC is actively contributing to American decline. And on this front, Biden's probably done just as much damage to US strategic interests as Trump's global gaffes.
