Yes. Yes I do think that, and I think the new teachers should be getting double that.

I’m a trained educator (credentialed, Bachelor’s in both Political Science & European History) who went to college because I had a passion for teaching. I had plans to teach high school History and/or Civics, but after talking with some teachers & applying at a few schools and realizing how fucking disgustingly terrible teachers are treated & how little they’re paid, I went into the mental health/social work field. I also don’t get paid that well but I make WAY more than any high school teacher in my area and I still get to live my dream of helping kids & families. Teachers at public schools in the US should be starting at $40/hr AT LEAST.
