Hi everyone. A social issue that is very important to me is that of animal welfare. I would like to to "socially consciously" invest more of my Roth IRA cash into ETFs or mutual funds that don't support factory farms, or preferably also cosmetics testing. I know that VEGN is a really good ETF for this. However, I heard that ETFs can close, and I'm a little scared of placing all of my investments in one ETF. (Admittedly, I don't know what happens to money if an ETF closes. Do you lose money if that happens, or not actually? EDIT: Don't think you lose money for Roth IRA - see my second paragraph.) Outside of VEGN, I can't seem to find investments that are clearly animal welfare conscious that are performing well when looking at a 5 year graph. Does anyone know any ETFs or mutual funds that have some omission of companies purposely for animal welfare, like not investing in big factory farm companies? Do you know if focusing on the issue of animal abuse is part of any of the popular climate-conscious funds? Thank you! Also, I know some people say that investments don't really make the company money, but some of the money still goes to CEOs of the company, and I'd rather participate in divesting from those companies to put some pressure on them.

EDIT: I found out that I believe you don't really lose money if an ETF closes, if it's within an IRA. You get a notification first, and even if you don't do anything it will just force you to sell the stock, but the value of the stock/your invested money doesn't drop because the ETF is going to close. If it's not an IRA, this sale might actually be a taxable event so you have to be careful. Please correct me if I'm wrong in any of this! Until/unless I decide to do more research on funds that align with my values or potentially replace the ETF with another one that still has mostly the same companies (basically tech companies) just under a different name and smaller expense ratio like someone here suggested, I'm going to put the rest of my money into VEGN for now. It's been performing really well and I think it's objectively a pretty good ESG ETF. I know I should diversify. But for now this is better than letting my IRA money sit uninvested for a long time and lose all of its potential.
