I'm in an analyst role right now but I want my next job move to be a Data Science role. I have an undergrad degree in statistics and worked as a researcher in academia, and have a master's in that. It involved a fair amount of modeling and I know both Python and R well. My current work also involves modeling and a bit of NLP too, although it's more building models on historical data rather than prediction into the future.

I'm able to see from job descriptions what they skills are and tools are that I'll need to know for a DS role, but my question is more along the lines of if you've made this move, was there anything that wasn't quite the change you expected or you had to spend more time learning than you thought you would?

I know I have solid experience from my work history to lean on but also I know I haven't been in a DS role so it may look different than I anticipate
