I have just gotten a new job and my income is about to be much higher. I will be maxing out my Roth IRA and my 401k.
From my understanding the next step is to invest in a taxable brokerage account if there is still money left over. However, how do I choose which brokerage to use? Does it matter?
My 401k is through Charles Schwab. My Roth IRA is though Edward Jones. (I know EJ has fees, and Reddit doesn’t like EJ. but my EJ guy is my financial advisor who has done a great job netting me an average of 14% return and I’d rather pay him a small fee and be hands-off)
With that being said, I know vanguard is very popular for its Index funds, but would it be batter to open a taxable brokerage account through vanguard and have an account with Schwab, Edward Jones, and vanguard? Or should I just open one with Schwab since I already have a 401k through them? Of course the last option is to open one through Edward Jones. But for a taxable brokerage account I don’t see the need to pay someone to manage it as I basically plan on dumping money into high performing index funds and basically just watching it grow over time.
So in your opinion, is this a good plan? Who would you open a taxable brokerage account through? Thank you
