I don't know what I would have done, it's a situation that the priest could not have imagined happening. This type of disrespect does not happen usually in a church so you can't train a priest for this, I guess now they will, sad how society has lost basic respect. Some said this could be battery, but not sure, not a lawyer.
All I know is that these priests dedicate their lives (day and night) to the celebration of the sacraments (Mass, confession, anointing of the sick etc), not just Sunday mornings. The Eucharist (consecrated hosts, the body of Christ, communion, etc) we believe are the literal body and blood of Christ, and is the source and summit of our faith. There was a priest who ran into the burning Notre Dame to save the consecrated hosts from the fire, this shows what the consecrated hosts mean to us. Priests are allowed to deny communion to those he sees are not in communion, wether they be non-Catholics or unrepentant public sinners. Catholics don't have open communion like Protestants.
