You might know more on the matter than I do but as far as I know, the Umayyad Caliphate also didn't force people to convert and largely let people live as they previously had.

I wasn't trying to make the point that "there are no aboriginal European cultures" or anything like that, only that history is long and complicated. The person I was responding to said "You mean the land that was colonized by Muslims?" which is true but reductionist to absurdity in context.

Personally, as a Portuguese-CanadianI would love more info on the Lusitanians but I haven't found any resources that aren't intensely scholarly. I think it would be great for Portugal to have more reverence for history before the Reconquista.
