I’m fairly sheltered in a sense because I’ve only ever worked in an academic medical center or VA hospital context and have never seen it happen in those settings (not to say it’s not happening outside my department, but not in behavioral health to my knowledge). I can see how lack of resources could contribute to burnout and make this kind of behavior more common. Sucks. Some people though are just cruel and should not be in any kind of healthcare or social service profession, regardless of setting.
