I understand an average isn't the best, but you want median home price? That's only gone up like 30% since 2019 too.

Otherwise your complaint is getting "I can't buy where I want to buy." I'm not going to argue the most desirable places' prices have gone up even more and the less desirable areas have increased but not as much. But those areas have always existed and people have always had to choose the need for a house of any kind over a house they want.

If you need a house or want a starter house then start in the less desirable area with a cheaper house and build equity and move on.
