Oh gee, this old tired "solution".

Move to a cheaper area... where? And how? Moving is expensive no matter how simple. And once you get "there" you know no one, have no connections, and have zero support. Then you maybe find a job only to discover, hey it pays less so the unaffordability is still a thing.

Work more. Again, what are you saying? Do people need to go back to working 80+ hours weeks just to provide themselves shelter?

Save and buy a house. This is the richest part here. Housing is inaccessible for anyone who either doesn't already own or doesn't make far and away above the median. This just isn't good advice anymore because it's not actionable. Even a high earner saving as much as they can will struggle to catch up to or even keep up with the high costs of buying a home. Even in the "cheaper areas" you mentioned, housing is expensive there too now.
