That's kinda the opposite of greed if prices are so high that sales are dropping. Greed is the selfish maximization of profit, so increasing prices beyond the increase in cost while simultaneously cutting expenses (often by "downsizing"). That is, maximizing profit at the expense of others' well-being.

I guess it depends heavily on the market segment as well. "People have the money to buy" doesn't mean they can *afford* it for goods/services with relatively inelastic demand. It just means that they need to pull the money from somewhere else, like reducing savings, taking out larger loans, utilizing revolving debt, working extra, forgoing medical care, or reducing entertainment expenditures.

I think that there's an element of greed involved.
